Hybrid Creates Buzz at CAMX 2016
Hybrid showcased new POSS technology at the 2016 Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX 2016) last week in Anaheim, California.
With new technical data on POSS® flow aids and coatings additives, Hybrid joined thousands of other innovators across North America at to collaborate on new industry developments and opportunities.
Hybrid’s display also featured information on Temppeclear™, a new product developed in partnership with The Resin Enterprise, Inc. Temppeclear™is a polyphenylene ether (PPE) with POSS-based additives that enhance PPE’s ability to flow without polystyrene. This affords PPE similar properties to polysulfone (PSU).
Hybrid President Joe Schwab said the company’s new product data – particularly MA0735, MA0736 and M4L35.01 – attracted conversations with both industry and research leaders.
“POSS is always well received at trade shows, particularly at CAMX,” said Schwab. “Many attendees had either heard of it or had worked with it previously. There were also a couple of presentations on POSS benefits, and that led to a good bit of dialogue on our current work.”
POSS, or polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane, is a Nanostuctured® chemical that bridges the gap between ceramic and organic materials to form a single molecular composition. POSS improves product performance of standard product additives. POSS is created and manufactured by Hybrid Plastics, a chemical additive company in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
CAMX was created to connect and advance the world’s composites and advanced materials communities. Now in its third year, CAMX promotes itself as the “go-to marketplace for products, solutions, networking and advanced industry thinking.” For more information on the event, visit thecamx.org.
